The ‘Fighter’ Blanket by Kimberly’s Crafts
The Fighter Blanket by Kimberly’s crafts was designed and released especially for our Preemie Crochet Challenge 2021!
Kimberly was the first designer to join us. Literally within about 2 minutes of me putting a call out she was there with her hands up! And then within what felt like days (possibly a week) she had this blanket ready to be tested!
For me, this design truly represents the Preemie Crochet Challenge.
Each and every preemie baby is such a little fighter, whether they are victorious or not. So many adults would give up if they went through what some of these preemies go through. Their desire to survive is simply amazing. I had a few hairy days with my preemie, but I am so thankful that her issues were both quickly resolved and didn’t have any knock on effects.
As a parent of a preemie there are days where you feel helpless, frustrated, scared beyond words. The only thing in the world you want to do is hold your baby and tell them everything will be OK. I know that a blanket like this would have helped me to stay strong the day that I eventually broke down and let out all of my emotions.
Note: This pattern will be available free with the coupon code on 8th and 9th August only.
A few words from the designer herself:
Kimberly does not have a blog that she uses so she has put together a few words for me to share with you about herself.
Hello, everyone my name is Kimberly Wood.
I was born and raised in Florida, and have stayed here my whole life, but travel all around, visiting many states and remote places like Jamaica.
I learned to knit when I was 11, my grandma taught me. Before I learned to crochet with yarn, I learned to crochet with rainbow loom bands!
After that I Loved making Amigrumi’s and slowly learned how to make c2c picture blankets. Those are my two favorite passions of crochet. It’s hard to work on them sometimes, due to one of my fur babies always trying to sit on my lap. But I was able to make this c2c graph just in time for this preemie event!
I hope everyone has fun making it, and the free code will be active on 8/8 to 8/9.
If you need the code for this one you will find it by clicking the round up button.
