Brick by Brick Bonding Square and Washcloth Pattern

£2.00

Description

The Brick by Brick Crochet Bonding Square and Washcloth Pattern is a thoughtful, practical project designed with love and purpose. Created for the Preemie Crochet Challenge 2025, this unisex design comes in two sizes—an approx. 5” crochet bonding square and a 7” crochet washcloth.

Bonding squares are small but powerful gifts. When placed with a preemie, they carry the scent of a parent, helping to comfort and strengthen the bond between parent and baby. Once their NICU journey is complete, bonding squares can be kept as keepsakes, or repurposed into small scrubbies for everyday use.

Washcloths make this pattern versatile and accessible for all ages—from newborns to the elderly. Handmade cotton washcloths are gentle, long-lasting, and practical, making them ideal gifts or donations.

Why you’ll love this pattern:

  • Beginner-friendly with step-by-step instructions.

  • Uses only 40–65 yards of yarn—perfect for stash-busting.

  • Features a beautiful textured stitch symbolizing growth and recovery “brick by brick.”

  • Unisex design suitable for any recipient.

Yarn recommendations: Cotton yarns or high-cotton blends are best, such as Paintbox Simply Cotton, Lily Sugar’n Cream (if using s a washcloth, not for babies), or Dishie. Cotton is natural, soft on delicate skin, and can withstand frequent washing—essential for NICU donations and everyday use.

Make a difference with your crochet. Whether you create bonding squares for preemies or washcloths for family and friends, this pattern offers comfort, purpose, and joy.
