Round-up of Summer Patterns

Round-up of Summer Patterns
Spread the love

This round up of summer patterns was originally the Summer Stitch Along week 1 round up during June of 2020. The patterns were so cute that we couldn’t just delete the post! So we decided to keep it and amend it to be a round up of some fantastic patterns for you.

Although the pdf versions are mostly all paid now, there are a lot of the posts where the designer has a free version on their blog so you can still get most of them for free this way, or you can purchase the inexpensive pdf versions if you would prefer having a printable version.

1. Splash of Color Washcloth by Sunflower Cottage Crochet:

Our offering is the Splash of Color Washcloth. We have designed this one especially for the Summer Stitch Along event!

It uses the paired double crochet stitch and around 50 yards of #4 worsted weight cotton. If you haven’t used this stitch before don’t worry – we have a video tutorial on it to help guide you through it! Its a super quick project and I am confident you will enjoy this stitch if its a new one for you!

You can check out our blog post here or by clicking on the photo below.

2. Hold the Cold Freeze Cozy by Through The Loop Yarn Craft:

This pattern is a sweet, super quick, scrap busting project. Its a pattern for all skill levels.  Kids love these – we have come a way since I was young and we used to wrap a little kitchen roll around our freeze pops to protect our hands from the cold! I love the idea of making a few in different colours so that the kids know which freeze pop is there’s when they invariably put them down for a minute while they are distracted.

You can grab this pattern here.

3. The Bella B Shorts by Carroway Crochet:

There are a couple of garments in this week’s roundup, the first of which are these shorts from Carroway Crochet. They were originally designed to go over the top of a swim suit (which I love the idea of) but you could also wear them everyday if you wanted to. They use worsted weight yarn and a 5.75mm hook.

You can check out the pattern and what the designer has to say about them here.

4. The Simply Lovely Seed Stitch Clutch Purse from Itchin’ for Some Stitchin’:

The name of this purse pretty much say it all LOL. RaeLynn loves the seed stitch and you can tell from the way she has written about this particular pattern. There is a video tutorial on this stitch within the post and some figure photos if you prefer them. You will need worsted weight yarn, a 3.5mm hook and a button of your choice to make this one.

Get the pattern here.

5. Reusable Crochet Flower Face Scrubbies by Made by Gootie:

I have made a few of Agat’s patterns lately, and featured a few in our Scrap Busting Sunday challenge over on our Facebook community group. These are great and make a lovely gift! Perfect for any lady or teen. They require a 4mm hook and sport weight cotton yarn.

You can find the pattern here.

6. In Love with Apples Crochet Applique by Raffamussa Designs:

Hands down these are the best apple appliqués I have seen yet! They are SUPER cite and would look great on anything – bags, hats, cup cozies, bookmarks, used as a badge, brooch or hair accessory! You name it. You will need sport weight cotton and a 2.5mm hook for these to make them 1.5” by 1.5”. If you use a thinker yarn and bigger hook they will obviously come out much larger.

You can find the pattern here.

7. The Skittles Poncho by Hanjan Crochet:

I love the look of this. I like the way that the blocks have been designed and I love how using your own color scheme would make this poncho look very different! Im imagining two versions – one in a gradient of the the same colour (maybe purples), and one with black as the base colour and fiery reds and oranges as the ‘skittles’ in between!

Now I just need to find the yarn and the time to make one!

You can find the pattern here.

8. Lime Coin Purse from Crochet Cloudberry:

A purse could not possibly scream ‘Its Summer’ more than this lime coin purse! If you have never added a zipper to a project before this is a perfect one to try it with. The PDF Pattern comes with full instructions on how to do this.

The pattern is written in Uk terms with a handy conversion to US terminology.

Get your pattern here.

9. The Isabela Skirt by Fosbas Designs :

This pattern comes in sizes from 2T to adult!  It would make a super Mummy and Me set. All of Susanna’s patterns are just gorgeous and this one certainly does not disappoint! I know as soon as my 8 year old sees this skirt she will want one!

Check out the pattern post here for the yarn requirements etc and the link to the ravelry pdf!

10. The Crochet Princess Dress by Needle Klankers:

This dress comes in sizes from 3 months to 4T and looks every inch a princess dress! It’s just beautiful.  You will need two colours and a 5mm hook for this one. Every little girl would look gorgeous in this – just pair it with some sandals and she will be the belle of the ball!

You can find the pattern information and links here.

11. Sweet Stripe Coasters by Green Fox Farms Designs:

I love how a little tweak as you finish a project can make each item look so different when you crochet. This is highlighted nicely with these great coasters. They take less than 15 minutes to make with worsted weight yarn and a 5mm hook. This is the first of four parts that Lisa is releasing for this event so you can grab the whole set as we go through June!

You can find the coasters here.

12. Crochet Vintage Bandana by Brittany Alice Crochet:

I like the look of this bandana. It’s vintage but modern at the same time, which is just Brittany Alice’s style if you look at her other designs.

She used paintbox cotton DK (#3 weight cotton) in two colours and a 3.5mm hook.

You can find her pattern post with links to the Ravelry pattern here.

13. Boho Belt Bag by Creations by Courtney:

This bag is a sweet designs and shouldn’t take too long to make one. It is another great scrap / stash buster and if you haven’t lined a crochet project before it is a fabulous pattern to try it on! It uses a 4mm and 5mm hook and worsted weight yarn.

You can find the pattern information and links to the Ravelry pdf here.

There you have it. Week 1 saw 13 great patterns to kick start the Summer Stitch Along!

If you either get the free version from the designer’s blog posts or download any of the paid versions of these patterns, it would be great if you could in return show the pattern some love on Ravelry. It really does help the designers to be seen and gets their work out to wider audiences.

If you make any of the patterns please share them with us on social media using #summerstitchalong – you could always join our Facebook group to share them if you are unconfident sharing them anywhere else! (Just remember to answer the joining questions.)
