The Ava Collection – Crochet the Placemat and Coaster
Spread the love

Crochet the perfect Spring and Summer set for your dining table with the Ava placemat and coaster. These perfectly match the Ava Table runner.

Can you believe that it has been just over a year since I officially released the Ava Table Runner?

The Collection Expands

I try to keep my promises. It may have taken a little longer than I hoped but I have officially added to the Ava Collection with the Placemat and Coaster set.

They use the same stitch combination as the table runner so match perfectly. As a set your dining table will look STUNNING this spring and summer! You don’t need to get the paints and overalls out to spruce up your home decor. A few little touches like these will make all the difference.

The great thing about these patterns are that you work them across the short sides so you can make them as long as you desire. This is a great design element, especially for the table runner which you can make to fit any table or dresser.

Yarn used:

You can use any yarn to make these, but I recommend 100% cotton yarn because of its durability and ease of cleaning.

For my Placemat and Coaster I used the same yarn as I did for the table runner – Lionbrand 24/7 Cotton in succulent.

Some great alternatives if you do not like the Lionbrand 24/7 are:

SKILLS NEEDED TO COMPLETE THIS PATTERN:

This pattern is much easier than it may look! I would encourage a confident beginner to give this a go. You should know how to:

  • chain,
  • single crochet (double crochet in UK Terms),
  • double crochet (treble Crochet in UK terms),
  • treble croche, (double treble crochet in UK terms),
  • work infront of previous stitches made,
  • work behind previous stitches made.

MATERIALS:

You will need to use:

  • #4 weight yarn or cotton of choice. I used 1 skein of Lion Brand 24/7 cotton in shade succulent per placemat
  • 4mm hook (but you can use a 5mm if preferred – the width may end up being slightly larger as a result)
  • Stitch markers (optional)
  • Scissors
