Now let’s have a peek at the patterns and find a fun new holiday project!
Blankets
Robin’s Blanket
The gingham look is always super popular during the holiday season. You can make this one as Christmassy as you want to with your choice of colours. I went for more neutral version for this one.
It is a fun blanket to work up and is a free pattern on my blog post.
Robin’s Cables Afghan
You can use this cozy cabled-look blanket for Christmas and all year round. The luxurious texture is deceptively easy to make. The pattern uses basic single, half double, and double crochet, plus a variation of the half double crochet called the camel stitch.
You’ll find a tutorial for the camel stitch here. It’s a great addition to your crochet skill set!
Nordic Snowflake Blanket
This C2C crochet blanket, with its classic Nordic snowflake design reminds you of your favorite cozy Christmas sweater. It looks stunning in two colours, or you can make each block in a different colour combo.
The free C2C crochet chart is available on the blog. Upgrade to the premium PDF for the written pattern, as well instructions for joining and border.
If you’re new to the corner to corner technique, check out my C2C crochet tutorial here.
Polar Bear Corner to Corner Blanket
If you love the C2C crochet technique, this polar bear blanket would make an adorable gift for baby’s first Christmas or a winter baby shower.
Made using half double crochets, this pattern will yield a blanket that’s about 42″ wide by 43″ tall. That’s a generously-sized baby blanket that a little one can use for several years! Or use double crochets to make it even bigger.
Penguins C2C Crochet Blanket
This C2C crochet penguin afghan features a heartwarming design of two penguins snuggled together, wrapped in colourful scarves. Make this blanket for your loved one (or yourself!) to ward off the winter blues.
Using double crochets, this blanket comes out to about 40″ wide x 50″ long.
To finish mine off I used my relaxed bobbles blanket strip pattern to create a frame of snowballs around this version to gift to my husband. Note: the bobbles section is free on my blog but not included in the pdf for this blanket.
Christmas Stockings
Robins Stocking
If you like the cabled look of Robins Blanket, listed above, you will love these beautiful crochet Christmas stockings. They look fantastic in a single colour. But using a contrasting colour really adds some pizzazz (and only a couple of extra ends to weave in).
The cable effect comes from the sedge stitch. You can find a sedge stitch tutorial here, along with a pattern for wrist warmers, which would make a great quick Christmas gift.
Fireside Cottage Stocking
This stocking features a classic look with a fun and interesting stitch pattern you may have never heard of—the N stitch. The pattern includes a written tutorial for the N stitch, or you can follow my video tutorial, here.
Why not make both of these crochet Christmas stockings in coordinating colours?
This pattern is free on the blog!
Other Crochet Christmas Decorations
Robin’s Christmas Tree Skirt
This classy crochet Christmas tree skirt has subtly textured accent rounds that resemble little berries. A ruffled edge gives it the perfect finish.
It would look equally beautiful in traditional red, green, and green, or cool, wintry blues. What colour scheme would you use?
Make it along with Robin’s Blanket and Stocking for a whole Christmas set!
Nordic Snowflake Placemats
If you like the look of the Nordic Snowflake blanket but prefer to work on a smaller project, try one of these festive holiday placemats.
Or if you want to try the corner to corner, this would be a good small project to give you a taste of the technique. If you find that you love C2C, you can keep right on going and make all four Christmas crochet placemat designs, or even the table runner, which is up next!
Nordic Snowflake Table Runner
Yes, this cheery Christmas table runner is part of a set! Make it on its own or along with the placemats to set a gorgeous holiday table that your family and friends will admire!
The table runner is made in one piece, with no joining required!
Nordic Tree C2C Square
You can use this corner to corner crochet square in all kinds of projects. Sew squares together for a throw pillow or a bag. Or you could even attach some fringe and hang a single square as crochet wall art.
This square was originally designed as part of the Nordic Winter Afghan CAL, a collaborative crochet along hosted by Juniper & Oakes. The chart is free on my blog. But if you’d like to make the whole blanket, you can buy the eBook here. You’ll get patterns for 12 C2C crochet squares, including this one.
Set of Two Snowflakes
Both of these delicate crochet snowflakes have just 5 rounds and can be made in less than 10 minutes!
You can use them so many different ways in your holiday decor and gifts. Decorate a window, use them as gift tags, or add a long crochet chain to make a bookmark. They also make great appliques for other projects.
Both are free patterns on the blog post.
