The Highland Neamh Tee – a summer must have!

The Highland Neamh Tee – a summer must have!
Spread the love

The Highland Neamh Tee is a summer must-have for your wardrobe! It is the latest edition to our Highland Neamh collection which currently has the gorgeous cocoon cardigan and the fun to make wrap with the mobius twist. You can check these patterns out further down this post. I plan to also add a beach bag / tote to the collection very soon.

Suitable for confident beginners.

It uses the same stitch combo that is in our Highland Neamh Collection. These stitches create a gorgeous texture that is suitable for so many projects.

With a 4 row fairly easy repeat it also means that there is enough interest to prevent you getting bored whilst creating this one.

The Highland Neamh Tee

This tee is made of two rectangles and is boatneck style so you do not have to worry about shaping. Just make sure that you work the correct size and it will look stunning!

The Highland Neamh Tee was written with 2″ of ease in each size, but if you make the next size up it also looks fabulous with 4″ of ease!

I actually made 2 of these tees when I was designing it. The blue version was made for me (I am a size large), but when I crocheted the coral one for my sister I decided to up a size and see how it looked with more ease. I also added a little bit more length to the overall design. I’m wishing I had had done that for myself too!!

Can you see why I feel like the frumpy one and prefer to stay behind the camera?

Yarn and materials

I used Stylecraft Naturals Bamboo and Cotton mix in surf (the blue version) and coral (the pinker version) for this design. It is a DK or 3 weight cotton that has a gorgeous drape and a nice shine to it that works perfectly to show of the texture of your stitches. For the size large I only needed 4 skeins per tee, so you get a lot of yardage in this yarn (273 yards per skein)!

You will also need:

  • #3 weight yarn or cotton of choice. I used 4 skeins of Stylecraft Naturals Bamboo and Cotton in surf for size large.
  • 4mm hook
  • Stitch markers (optional but recommended to mark first and last st of the row and for assembly)
  • Scissors

Size inclusive

The Highland Neamh Tee has been written in 9 sizes. It will fit adults from size XS to 5X (that is a bust measurement of up to 62″).

So much fun

This is the second garment that my sister, Sarah, has modelled for me. Did you see my Sarah Tee design? It is fabulous if I do say so myself!

We had so much fun on the photoshoot for the Highland Neamh Tee. The weather was gorgeous. We decided to walk the mile and a bit between Sarah’s house and my mum’s via the fields and the pit pond with my Great Dane, Hugo. It became a family outing. My husband, brother-in-law and 17 year old nephew came too. Of course, that meant lots of comments and silliness along the way!

And I learned something else about Sarah… I hadn’t realised how nervous Sarah was of sheep before. As we all moved out of home  my mum started rescuing animals …. turkeys, ducks, chickens, horses, dogs and now sheep!  I laugh so much at this photo because Sarah was trying not to show she was nervous whilst gritting her teeth. I’m not sure why she went into that field in the first place, but I couldn’t resist asking her to smile for a minute anyway.
