Isn’t the Flowers and Diamonds Summer Top just gorgeous? I am thrilled that Sulaimon Toyyibah, the designer behind Toyslab Creations, has honoured us with a guest designer post for this pattern!

A little bit about the designer:

Hi,

I am Sulaimon Toyyibah, the designer behind Toyslab Creations, I am 29 years old, from Nigeria, and live with my husband and three kids. Other hobbies include a bit of machine knitting too.

I started crocheting at the age of eleven, I was taught by an old friend who doesn’t crochet anymore. It was the end of the school examination and while our teachers were busy marking our scripts, I seized the opportunity to learn crochet from her. I must confess, it’s one of the best decisions I have made in life.

My first makes were a baby hat for my baby sister, my mum just gave birth to her last born at the time. I also made a small bag for me that could contain a few books.

I crocheted on and off for years and learned machine knitting in between. But I have been consistently crocheting since 2019.

I started designing crochet patterns in April 2020. I had more than enough time due to the Corona Virus Lockdown. Pregnant with my third baby at the time, I was more interested in baby items. I designed my first crochet pattern: crochet baby booties worked in rows. It was, and still is, a very much loved pattern by a lot of crocheters. I have since designed about seventy patterns.

Designing baby booties, baby bonnet, baby dresses and rompers are my passion. I extended my love for baby booties worked in rows to kids and adult sizes. Designing garments for babies, kids and adults is also a favourite, but it is mostly summer wears because it is mostly hot in Nigeria.

he links to everywhere you can find me are below! I look forward to seeing you!

Thanks for reading my story. Wishing you all the very best.

Happy crocheting!

  • Work into the Ch 1 stitch and not into the Ch 1 space
  • This top can also be made into a long gown.
