Women’s Textured Scarf – Free Crochet Pattern
The Paige Mod Scarf is a women’s textured scarf pattern that is just beautiful and so cosy to wear!
The shape of it means that it works up quickly and uses only 1 mandala cake! Together these mean that this pattern is a great stash buster and perfect if you are looking for something to make as gifts. The texture on it allows for some interest while crocheting this one so, even the most experienced crocheter will not be bored working this one up!
I would say that a confident beginner can give this one a go quite easily. If you are new to some of the stitches don’t worry! I have links to videos below to help you out!
Inspiration behind the design
The convertible mod scarf features steady increases and decreases to get the shape. The shape allows you to wear this as a hooded scarf, hooded cowl, super scarf, super cowl, or a shawlette. That’s why it’s called convertible!
Sorry kiddos, this scarf is for mommy!
Construction of the design
This gorgeous textured scarf pattern is written for both #3 weight (DK) and #4 weight (aran) yarn. So there are plenty of options for you when looking at yarns to use. This is great news if you would prefer to shop your stash!
The tapered edges of this one create less bulk if you prefer to tuck your scarves inside of your coats during the colder weather. This is perfect for ensuring that you are keeping your otherwise exposed neck warm without overheating.
As part of the Paige Collection, this pattern uses the Bean stitch (video here) and X stitch (video here). I love these two together!

The Yarn
For this pattern you can use just about any #3 or #4 weight yarn that you have! Go for a solid, self striping or use part skeins from your scrap bucket!
Word of warning – if using scrap bucket yarn, make sure you use the same yarn weight throughout!
For my versions I used 1 mandala cake (blue and cream version), just a smidge over 1 Caron cake for the lighter blue and multi-coloured versions, and around 120 grams of Women’s Institute Aran Tween from Hobby Craft for the solid blue version.
Next up is most definitely a scrap bucket version for me!
