The Abbie Tee – A Quick Summer Make
The Abbie tee is a quick, light, airy and fairly mindless crochet project that you can make in a couple of evenings.
Made with #3 weight (DK) yarn it is perfect for summer. The semi-open stitches mean that you can wear it over a vest top or bathing suit comfortably without getting too hot. And it is so comfortable to wear. Dress it up with black trousers or wear jeans or shorts or a skirt … this top will go with just about anything!
Isn’t that texture on the body of the Abbie tee just gorgeous?
You will notice that I have deliberately made the ribbing for the back part longer than the front. I wanted to make the tee more comfortable while having a little design flair that wasn’t detracting from the design. (Incidentally it also gives you a little more coverage for when you need to bend down to pick something up or deal with the kids!)
New to garment making?
No Problem! The Abbie Tee is created using 2 panels so it has a super easy construction. The PDF Pattern includes the schematics for you.
Yarn used
I used Yarn Bee soft and sleek for this design. I bought it while I was in Colorado in March. It is such a nice yarn to work with and feels so light and airy in garment designs!
As you can see from the photo below there is a lot of yarn in one skein (478 yards) so it goes quite a long way. To make a size large I used less than 4 skeins.
Yardage required
As an approximation you will need the following yardage for each of the sizes included in this pattern:
Size | To fit Bust | Yardage required |

S | 30-34″ | 900 |
M | 36-38″ | 1000 |
L | 40-42″ | 1200 |
XL | 44-46″ | 1350 |
2XL | 48-50″ | 1500 |
3XL | 52-54″ | 1600 |

- 4mm hook

The texture
The Abbie tee is made using the Blossom stitch. This is a simple 2 row repeat that is really quite meditative to work up and will work up quickly.
