Are you curious about crochet cables but not sure where to start? Or maybe you’ve tried them before and want to stretch your skills with something a little more adventurous?

The Adventure in Cables Crochet Along (CAL) is the perfect way to learn how to crochet cables in a fun, supportive, and creative way. Each section introduces you to a new cable technique, mixing both traditional stitches and modern twists so you get the best of both worlds. By the end, you’ll have a gorgeous textured blanket and a brand-new set of cable skills under your belt.

Kristine (Ambassador Crochet) and I have teamed up again to bring you a CAL that’s inspiring, practical, and—most importantly—fun. Every part of the Adventure Blanket has been carefully designed to balance coziness with technique. Whether you’re brand-new to cables or already hooked on them, you’ll find this CAL both approachable and exciting.

How it Works

• Each week, new blanket strips are released as free patterns on our blogs.
• Each strip explores a different cable design, with step-by-step instructions and video tutorials to guide you.
• At different points, you’ll make choices (our “adventure” twist!), so every blanket ends up unique—no two look exactly the same.
• The finished blanket will be made up of 11 sections, and a border.

Yarn & Hook

You can use any #4 weight yarn you love (or #3 with a smaller hook if you prefer – but you will have to add a couple more sections to your blanket if you do this!) Expect to use around 4500 – 5000 yards total for 11 sections, the dividers, and the joining.

I used Rowan Pure Wool Superwash Worsted yarn in ivory, windsor and gold.  i Kristine worked her version in Big Twist Value Yarn in soft grey. Choose colors that inspire you—you’ll be staring at them a lot while you’re cabling away!
