Crochet for a Cause Event
Have you heard about the Crochet for a Cause initiative happening this summer? Has lockdown has given you time to get a great start on creating your Christmas presents? Do you still have stash to bust? Then this will be a great initiative for you to get involved in!
About Crochet for a Cause:
Every Monday from 1st June – end of August there will be a free beginner to intermediate hat or scarf pattern from a range of talented designers available. By accepting a copy of the free pdf’s you are pledging to make at least one of that pattern to donate. You can donate to a local homeless shelter, hospital, women’s refuge etc in readiness for the cold weather coming.
Crochet for a Cause is the brainchild of Ashley at EdithBlayn.com. You can find her round-up post here. It will be updated every Monday with the patterns that are available for you to download free that week.

Our Contribution:
We will be donating our pomander scarf pattern in the first week of July. In the meantime keep an eye on our social media accounts and we will let you know about the patterns that are available each week.

Week 1 – 1st-7th June: Code has now expired for these two.
The Heather Beanie from A Plush Pineapple.
This one is sure to keep heads warm as it uses super bulky (#6 weight) yarn and a 8mm and 9mm hook. You can check it out here or by clicking on the photo below.
The Quick and Easy Beanie for Men by Shabby Sheep Apparel.
For this one you need approximately 120 yards of bulky yarn (#5 weight) and a 6.5mm hook. So it works up quickly. Sizes range from toddler to adult large. To get this pattern click here or on the photo below.

Monkey Around Beanie by Through the Loop Yarn Craft
For this one you will need a 5mm hook and worsted weight yarn. Its a great pattern for beginners and the pdf comes in four sizes. You can get your copy here.
The Honey Bee Scarf by Modesty by Laura
This pattern uses around 185 yards of worsted weight yarn and 6.5mm hook. You can find the pattern post and links here.
Week 3: 15th – 21st June 2020 – Code has now expired for these patterns
The Basic Beanie by Lullabye Lodge
This pattern comes in sizes from 3 months to adult large and is suitable for beginners. You will need less than 100g of aran or worsted weight yarn and a 5mm or 4.5mm hook. Check out the pattern and get the pdf here.
The Nebuka Infinity Scarf by The Loop Hole Fox
This pattern is worked on the diagonal and uses 252 yards of worsted weight yarn and a 5mm hook. It is an easy 2 row repeat. Find it here
Week 4: 22nd-28th June – code has expired for these
The easy Crochet ribbed baby beanie by Itchin’ for some Stitchin’
This really is a great beginner friendly pattern. You will need a 5.5mm hook and #3 weight yarn. You can find the pattern here.
Women’s Flower Accent Hat by Cute and Cozy Crochet

Tunisian Giving Scarf by Noors Knits
This is a great beginner project using the Tunisian honeycomb stitch. It looks complicated but honestly this was the first stitch I learned for Tunisian back in February! This is a one skein project and looks fabulous! Check it out here.
Easy Scarf Crochet Pattern by King and Eye
This scarf is simple and cute! I have some King Cole Galaxy in black that I have been wondering what to do with … now I know 😛 You can find this pattern here.

Pomander scarf by Sunflower Cottage Crochet
This week we have donated our pomander scarf to this fantastic cause. It’s an easy repeat that makes a lovely warm unisex scarf. You can find the pattern here.

This beanie uses front and back posts and is beginner friendly. You can find this sweet pattern here.

Mermaid Confetti Scarf by Itchin’ for some Stitchin’
This scarf is great for beginners and uses the rope stitch – don’t worry as Raelynn tells you how to do it in the special stitches section! You will need #4 worsted weight yarn and 5.5mm hook.

Double Brim Coffee Beanie Crochet Pattern by Another Mum Fights the Dust
I love a pattern with a double brim! It uses the mini bean stitch, a 6mm hook and approximately 176 yards of #4 weight yarn. You can find this pattern here.
Dreamer Beanie by Carroway Crochet
This is a super cute slouchy beanie pattern that requires a 5mm hook and one skein of #4 weight yarn. The brim is created using front and back post stitches. Isn’t it perfect for donating? Find the pattern here.

This beanie is so pretty and practical. It is a great unisex pattern which makes it perfect for donating!! You can get the pattern here.
The Simple Scarf by Lullaby Lodge
This pattern is another great unisex pattern and requires a 5mm hook and #4 weight yarn. It comes in sizes suitable from age 2 to adult so you will make it time and time again! Grab it here.

The Linden Beanie by A Purpose and a Stitch
You can whip up this beanie in no time! It uses #6 weight yarn (about 90 yards in total for the biggest size) and a 10mm hook. It comes in sizes baby through to adult so its a great pattern to have in your library! Find it here. Note: you need to find the ravelry link under ‘The Pattern’ heading as there is no button on this post, but the code does work!
The Criss Cross Ridges Infinity Scarf by Loops and Love
This scarf is just so pretty and full of texture! It requires about 400 yards of worsted weight yarn and a 5.5mm hook. You can find this pattern here.

The Slip Stitch Beanie by HanJan Crochet
This pattern comes in 10 sizes! You will need any #4 weight yarn and a 6mm hook. Its a beginner friendly pattern and will be so easy to embellish or customise to suit! You can find the pattern here.
The Squishy Adult Hat by Crafting Each Day
This pattern is another beginner friendly one that uses front post stitches, #4 yarn (about 175 yards) and a 5mm hook. If you have never tried the front post double crochet before we do have a YouTube tutorial that shows you how to do this stitch! You can find the pattern here.

Chunky Ridge Cowl by The Travelling Hooker
This beauty uses a #6 weight yarn, a 10mm hook and a 1 row repeat so it works up really quickly! It’s perfect for new crocheters and experienced crocheters who want to get a project done in less than a couple of hours. You can find it here.
The Mossy Ridge Infinity Scarf by Needle Klankers
I love featuring the patterns from Needle Klankers. And I have a few of them on to do list! This one is another fairly quick make and a 2 row repeat. You can find the links for the pdf here. Dont forget to grab the code from the how it works section above!

Take me Outside infinity scarf by Carroway Crochet
This pattern is a 2 in 1 as you can wear it as a scarf or over your head as a hood and scarf combo. I love it when you can use a design in more ways than one. You will need a 9 or 10mm hook and #5 weight yarn for this one. Find out more and get the pattern here.
The Ferris wheel Hat by Nana’s Crafty Home
How often do you come across a hat that is made using some granny squares! I love it! You will need about 200 yards of #4 weight yarn and a 5 and 5.5mm hook. Check out the pattern here. Please note that this one is obtained via the designer’s own site and not Ravelry so you may need to include some personal details such as email and address!! If you have any issues with it please contact the designer.
Week 14 – 31st August – 6th September
Peaks Crochet Scarf by Creations by Courtney
This is an interesting but effective stitch combo! You will need between 315 and 640 yard of #4 weight yarn (depending on style of scarf) and a 5.5mm hook. Check out the texture in this one … You can find the info and links here.
XOXO Slouch hat pattern by Crafting for Weeks
This pattern is written for sizes 12 months to adult and there os the option to add more interest with beads! You will need 160 – 200 yards of #4 weight yarn for this project. Check it out here.
