Please note:

The pattern below is included in its entirety because it is meant to be used in conjunction with this course. I take you through all of the elements of the pattern, how to read the chart, written instructions, and the colour block instructions. All of the links are in the post linked above.

Materials:

  • #4 weight yarn in 2 colors. I used Caron simply soft and required one skein of each color.
  • 5mm hook
  • Stitch markers (recommended)
  • Scissors
  • Tapestry needle
  • 16” pillow form

Gauge:

Using C2C in the dc stitch as your gauge stitch, 2’’x 2’’ is 3 blocks x 3 blocks

Size:

Fits 16” pillow form

Abbreviations:

  • Col A – Color A – this is the background color
  • CA – color A – this is the background color
  • ColB–Color B–this is the bunny
  • CB–Color B–this is the bunny
  • FO—fasten off

Pattern Notes:

  • Written in US terms
  • This pattern is reversible, so if you carry any yarn, remember to work over it as you go. It is not recommended to carry yarn for more than a few C2C blocks.
  • This is a traditional C2C graph and is worked diagonally from the bottom right-hand corner. It ends at the top left-hand corner.
  • To work out how much yarn you will need, you will need to do a sample swatch and then measure how much yarn you used per C2C block, multiplying that by the number of blocks of that color and adding some for the tails to be worked in at the end.
  • Color charts with stitch totals are listed under the picture graph on the next page.

Color Block Instructions for the front of the bunny pillow

For the back panel of the bunny pillow

Sew in your ends, and then you are ready to assemble your bunny pillow!

Assembly:

Step 1: Take your front and back panels and place the wrong sides together (this means that the right sides will be facing outwards).

Step 2: SC around three sides of your cushion, ensuring that you sc through both the front and the back panels.  At each corner (sc, ch1, sc). Do NOT work the last side yet.

Step 3: Insert pillow form into a cushion (see photo below) and then continue to sc along the last side. This might be a little trickier as you have the pillow form to work around too.  Slip stitch to the first stitch you made. Do not fasten off yet!

Step 4: Crab stitch in each sc and ch1 space around. SS to join

Fasten off and weave in ends.

C2C Mini Course

If you are new to crocheting corner to corner, we have a mini course. Parts 1 and 2 take you through how to make this bunny pillow step by step. The post linked below will be updated as the new parts are released (9th, 16th, and 23rd February 2021)

You can find it here!

Innovative Stitches Blog Hop

In February 2022, this pattern was featured as part of the Innovative Stitches event organized by Blue Star Crochet.

The e-book for this event is still available to purchase for an awesome price.

  • This eBook contains 40 crochet stitch pattern tutorials.
  • Each tutorial contains a still close-up image of the stitch to give you a visual idea of what you are aiming to achieve.
  • Each stitch comes with written instructions guiding you through each step of the stitch.
  • If you are more of a visual learner, there is a link to a video tutorial showing you how to work the particular stitch. That makes it an interactive stitch bible you will use over and over!
