Splash of Colour Washcloth – A Fun & Easy Crochet Washcloth Pattern

A crochet washcloth pattern is the perfect project to try a new stitch out with … and they make fabulous gift or donation ideas too. So you can never make too many of them!! And this one is a unisex pattern too.
If you love quick, practical, and colorful crochet projects, the Splash of Color Washcloth is the perfect pattern for you! Originally designed in 2020, this washcloth features a beautiful texture created using staggered double crochet pairs. Don’t let the name intimidate you—this pattern is much easier than it sounds, making it a great choice for beginners and experienced crocheters alike.
This particular stitch looks pretty in a single color however, when using two colors to create a striping affect, it looks even better! When you work two colors and create a striping affect, it looks like ric-rac.

Originally, this washcloth was designed in a varigated yarn from Peaches and Creme in the colorway, Strawberry Lemonade. This is where I got the name, Splash of Color Washcloth.

Border option:
If you choose to do a border: instead of fastening off, simply turn your work so that you are working down the side of the cloth and sc evenly until you reach the first corner: either place 2sc in the corner stitch or do [sc, ch1, sc] in the corner. Continue single crocheting around, placing either 2sc in each corner or [sc, ch1, sc] in each corner. SS to first sc made for the border.
FO. Weave in ends.
