Easy Crochet Blanket Pattern

If you are looking for an easy crochet blanket pattern that works up quickly then the Blooming Afghan is for you!

It has an easy 4 row repeat that is easy to remember. So once you have done a couple of repeats you will not need to follow the pattern too closely. I made mine with #5 weight yarn so it worked up super quickly and looks fabulous!

INSPIRATION BEHIND THE DESIGN

I had been wanting to use this James C Brett Marble Chunky yarn in a pattern for a long time. I just adored the colours in the skeins and, having used this yarn for other projects previously, I knew it worked up beautifully.

I wanted to really show off the colours in this yarn, so that narrowed me down to the idea of an easy crochet blanket pattern – something with a little bit of texture, but not enough that it got lost in the colour changes.

The Blooming Afghan is worked in rows from the bottom up, so it is really easy to make it as long as you would prefer.

CONSTRUCTION OF THE DESIGN

The easy four row repeat on this crochet blanket pattern ensures that it will also work up quickly.

Another bonus to this design is that you can literally use any yarn with it – variegated cakes (as I have in my version) solids, use your scraps and make every row or repeat a different colour!

THE YARN

I used a #5 weight yarn (chunky in UK weight) for my version of this afghan. It is James C Brett Marble Chunky yarn in shade MC07.
